Eleaf iWũ Review
The iWu is the latest compact, All-in-one Pod System Kit from Eleaf. It has a built-in 700mAh battery which supports a speedy 1A charge and has a 15watt maximum output which means it’s perfectly suited for nicotine salt s-liquids which will still pack a good kick despite it’s lower power output.
The Eleaf iWu comes packaged with two refillable pods that are the TPD-standard 2ml in capacity and contain a non-replaceable coil that has a resistance of 1.3ohms. The cartridges have a unique side-fill solution to top up your juice and this innovation slows the system to be leak proof.
Eleaf has obviously put a lot of effort into creating a very sleek looking, yet practical device with a bunch of intelligent design decisions that mean that it is incredibly simple to operate while remaining one of the better-looking pod systems on the market. The unique battery cover is perhaps the most stand out innovation – once removed, the cartridge can firmly fix securely onto the top of the battery, at which point the cover can slide back over the sealed cartridge and battery which both protects the device and conceals int cartridge preventing any leakage. This makes the device seem incredibly sturdy and durable and is a really great touch.
The responsive automatic draw to activate system means that it couldn’t be simpler for somebody to pick up and immediately know how to use it – there are no buttons, menus or complicated LED systems – you simply inhale on the cartridge mouthpiece and it will automatically initiate.
The restrictive airflow and lack of any control over the pod’s airflow mean it is definitely designed for mouth to lung users and isn’t suitable for direct to lung users – despite this, it has very impressive vapour production for a low-watt pod system.
LED Battery Life Indicator
At just under 10cms in length and 3cms in width, the lightweight Eleaf iWu will fit in the palm of your hand. Under 1.5cms in depth also means it’s a very slim device that’s ultra-portable and will easily slip into a pocket.
The Eleaf iWu comes packaged with a micro USB charger which plugs directly into the bottom of the unit and charges surprisingly fast. The device has an LED indicator that will let you know roughly how much charge the device has in it – it will light up green when the battery level I over 60%, orange when it has 30-60% charge, purple indicates that is somewhere between 10-30% and red means it’s time to charge it as the battery life is under 10%. While it lets you know roughly how much battery life the device has at a glance, it would be nice to have a more accurate indicator as the difference between the lower and higher end levels at which the LED indicator will change could potentially be a difference of 30% or 40%.
